Unsubscribe from Being Busy
Let’s talk about something that shows up in a lot of conversations these days:
“I’m so busy.” has become something of a default response, hasn’t it?
But lately, I’ve been wondering—what would it mean to unsubscribe from that? What if I don’t want my legacy to be - “oh, yeah, she was really busy, she got a lot done”.
In this week’s video, I share a personal story about hitting a health wall that made me realize just how deeply I was stuck in a cycle of constant doing. Not just work, but everything—family, social life, even “self-care” was just more to schedule in and get done.
So I started experimenting with something that felt really foreign at first: space.
Moments to wander.
Weekends with nothing planned.
Fifteen whole minutes of doing absolutely nothing.
And guess what I found? My nervous system began to exhale. I began to sleep better. Regulate better. Live better. My sense of humour came back. I felt more playful, more human.
This isn’t a call to quit everything and lie in a hammock all day (though not going to lie, that sounds pretty sweet). It’s an invitation to pause and ask yourself:
How busy do I need to be?
What’s driving me?
How busy do I want to be?
Where could I leave a little more space?
How do I want to live this one wild and precious life?
Maybe it’s time to unsubscribe from “busy” and reconnect with being human.
Let me know how it goes in the comments below.
