Unsubscribe from the Drive for Constant Self-Improvement
I want to take a moment and invite you to consider unsubscribing from something that's been deeply ingrained in us: the drive for constant self-improvement.
Don’t get me wrong—growth, learning, and evolving are all things I wholeheartedly support. But here’s the thing: this drive to “improve” often comes from a place of feeling like we’re not enough as we are right now. It stems from the idea that we need to change, be better, thinner, smarter, or achieve more to be worthy, to be good enough.
We’ve all been taught this message in various ways—maybe through our families, for sure through the media, and society at large. We’re bombarded with the idea that something is wrong with us unless we improve in certain ways to be good enough. This pressure can be insidious and hard to identify because self-improvement is always applauded. But I want to challenge you to pause for a moment and ask yourself: Am I motivated by love, curiosity, and self-compassion, or am I trying to change because I don’t feel good enough as I am?
The truth is, you don’t need to change in order to be worthy of love, success, or belonging. You are enough.
So let’s Unsubscribe from the constant pursuit of perfection, from the fear that we’re not enough as we are. And then, when you choose to grow or shift something in your life it’s because you want to, not because you have to or because you’re not good enough exactly as you are.
In this video, I dive deeper into this idea, and I hope it sparks a bit of freedom for you today.
Take a breath, and know that you are enough.
With love,
Belinda
P.S. Where are the places where trying to improve to feel “enough” shows up for you? For me, it always comes back to body stuff, or working harder. I’d love to hear your experiences with this. Comment and let me know.
